I am currently pursuing my PhD under the supervision of Dr Irene Oglesby, focusing on “Interrogating the Role of miRNA in Predicting Responses to Novel Modulator Therapies in Children with Cystic Fibsosis (IMPROVE-CF)”. Our research aims to examine global miRNA:mRNA expression changes using iPSC-derived airway epithelial organoids from people with CF, with the goal of advancing our understanding and therapeutic strategies for CF.
I completed my undergraduate degree in Biopharmaceutical Science at Dundalk Institute of Technology, followed by a Master's degree in Translational Oncology from Trinity College Dublin. After completing my Master’s, I worked as a research assistant in the Living Lung Lab for a year and a half, where I gained valuable hands-on experience in culturing iPSC-derived airway basal cells to study Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and iPSC-derived alveolar type II cells to study Pulmonary Fibrosis. This experience not only enhanced my practical skills but also deepened my understanding of the complex mechanisms underlying these diseases. The challenges and discoveries I encountered during this time ignited my strong passion for research in this field and motivated me to pursue a PhD.
