Jisha Jasmin

I have a BSc in Physics from the University of Kerala and an MSc in Bioinformatics from Mahatma Gandhi University, India. During my studies, I had the opportunity to work as a Summer Research Fellow at Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore, India. I also received a prestigious fellowship from the Indian National Academy of Science to work at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Thiruvananthapuram, India. My internship at National Centre for Biological Science, Bangalore, India was an excellent opportunity to learn experimental and computational methodologies used in a biological research setting. I was also the recipient of many renowned scholarships namely INSPIRE from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, PRATHIBHA, Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment and Scranton Women Leadership Scholarship by the Korean Women Mission Foundation. My mentors' motivation during my studies encouraged me to pursue genomics further.

I am currently doing my PhD under the supervision of Prof. Killian Hurley, Prof. Gianpiero Cavalleri, Dr Katherine Benson and Prof. Imran Sulaiman. My research is an effort to develop a genomics-guided precision diagnosis and care for families with pulmonary fibrosis in Ireland. In my research, I use a variety of statistical and bioinformatics tools and pipelines, including GATK, ACMG, PLINK, PRSice. The recent development and applications of genomics data science in life science research are fascinating and I really would like to contribute to the field more through my research.
