Amy Duffy

My academic career began at Dublin City University where I received my BSc in Genetics and Cell Biology. My passion for complex genetic diseases and developing disease models began during my undergraduate programme. There I undertook a research project titled "Development of an astrocytic aquaporin CRISPR knock-in cell line for super-resolution microscopy", and while I always had an affinity for research this project solidified my next steps into academic research.

Since completing my undergraduate degree, I am currently pursuing my PhD under Dr Mari Ozaki and Prof Killian Hurley as part of the Ozaki Group in RCSI. My PhD title is “Assessing the pathogenesis of pulmonary fibrosis using patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cell models”. We aim to develop a novel patient derived induced pluripotent stem cell model of pulmonary fibrosis to understand familial pulmonary fibrosis (FPF). The ultimate goal is to discover targets for FPF treatment strategies to improve patients quality of life.
